Sales funnels are one of the most important things in one business, if you do not have a sales funnel you are losing the opportunity to control your clients.

Have you ever seen Mac Donald’s? I am sure you have! And that burger company is the best example of sales funnels, but before talking about that example I would you like to explain this a little bit further.

What is the sales funnels goal?

The goal is pretty easy: Get Sales. But it is not as simple as that, sales funnels are the best marketing tool to grow your business. In fact, businesses that are based on a good funnel can control their leads (potential clients) and increase their sales.

There are three key factors to scale your business:

  • Increase the number of customers.
  • Increase the average transaction value per customer.
  • Increase the number of transactions per customer.

I think that sounds pretty difficult to work on them, however, having a sales funnel will help you to do it without any issue.

Why Mc Donald’s is the best example of sales funnels?

Let’s talk about Mc Donlald’s funnel!

Mc Donald’s meets the three business development factors. They usually transform a $3.99 order into a $7.97 order, they are awesome (in terms of sales).

Let me show you how is that possible:

The prices in this example are not Mc Donald’s real prices.

When you go to Mc Donald’s and you are trying to buy a combo they always offers you to turn your small combo into a bigger one, they also offer desserts and some complements…

Yep, Mc Donald’s may not understand nutrition but they understand how to do business.

Each product that Mc Donald’s offers you after you said you want a combo is a complement and it is called upsell, they are able to turn a $3.99 order into a $7.97 or even more because they are using upsells technique.

If you remember the three key factors that I wrote before you will notice that Mc Donald’s is following all of them, let me explain you:

This are the key factors:

  • Increase the number of customers.
  • Increase the average transaction value per customer.
  • Increase the number of transactions per customer.
  1. Mc Donald’s is increasing the number of customers because instead of sell a $7.97 product they are offering a $3.99 one, so more people will buy it.
  2. They are increasing the ticket, upselling complements.
  3. They are increasing the number of transactions because client is not buying only one stuff.

I can explain deeper how Mc Donald’s is meeting those factors, but I am sure that you prefer to understand how can you make your business like Mc Donald’s one…

Nope, you do not need to get a clown or use horrible colors, you only need to use your brain to create a good strategy.

Back to Sales Funnels

Is time to go back to sales funnels and keep talking about this marketing tool.

Having a Funnel based business will help you to scale your project and achieve the maximiun potential, so you really need one.

I know that you are asking:

How the hell can I have a funnels based business?

Do not worry I am going to explain you more my little padawan ( Yeah I am a Star Wars fan).

But first let’s talk about the advantages of having a sales funnel:

If you have a sales funnel you can rule the world…

Ok, maybe not, but you can improve your business, funnels allow you to control the route that will take your customer, so if you control the route you can control the stops.

In other words, a sales funnels allow you to control what is going to buy your client and when is going to buy it, the advantage of doing the a funnel strategy is that you always know what will happen so you can predict, anticipate and take advantage.

Yep… You can increase your sales!

How to create a sales funnels based business?

Transform your business into a funnel will take some time, you need to change your mind and split your business, but the first step you can do to start this work is to think about the following things:

  1. Main Offer
  2. Upsell products
  3. Downsell products

Let’s clarify how to do this, you need to set up the main offer, this offer needs to be your entry-level product if you have a hotdog company, the hotdog needs to be your entry-level, usually the entry-level is the main product.

If you have a car agency maybe a t-shirt can be the entry product that depends on your target market.

Is important to focus your funnel in the target market, going back to the car agency example, car agency cannot sell a car to someone under 18 years old, or at least won’t be easy, but they can sell t-shirts, keychains, caps, etc.

If the car agency wants to focus on the young market should start with a t-shirt or something similar and maybe in a few years will be able to sell a car.

Upsells and downsells should be related products, you cannot sell a bike and upsell a house or downsell a horse, makes no sense, but if you sell a bike you can upsell helmet or downsell gloves.

Upsells is a related product you are trying to sell when people buy your previous offer and downsell is the same but you do it when people reject the previous offer.
